Acerca de Whois Checker

How does domain name registration data lookup work?

Domain Name Registration Data Finder is a javascript-based client application that uses the Registration Data Access Protocol (RDAP) to query, parse, and display registration data in a human-friendly format. The displayed results come directly from registry operators  and / or  registrars in real time. If the requested information is not available in RDAP, the request will be redirected to whois. This process is known as WHOIS failure lookup, which occurs when the requested information is not available in the RDAP and the WHOIS lookup is used as a backup operation to attempt to provide available credentials.

What is Registration Data Access Protocol (RDAP)?

RDAP is a computer network communication protocol for structured access to domain name registration data. RDAP is an alternative to the WHOIS protocol and can be used to search for matching credentials on Internet resources such as domain names, IP addresses, and autonomous system numbers. In its basic form, RDAP is not intended to provide a "human-friendly" presentation of data. However, its structured output allows for more human-friendly services.

What data is available?

When a domain name is registered, the owner of the registered name must provide a set of information to the registrar. This information is called “Domain Name Registration Data”. In accordance with applicable law and ICANN policies, not all domain name registration information needs to be returned in response to a search request. As a result, registrars and registry operators may differ in what data is returned in response to a search request.

Will all available data be visible?

Some of the available Domain Name Registration Data may only be visible to those who have demonstrated a legitimate and proportionate purpose to view it and have obtained permission to do so. If the data you are looking for does not appear in response to your search query, it may not be available, or you should see a note and / or an edited label in the appropriate result field to indicate that data may be available that is not visible to you.

Understanding RDAP Search Results

Search results can come from both registrars and registry operators. The source of each result field is not listed in the search results. Therefore, the following table is intended to help you understand the fields displayed in search results and to identify the source of the data.

What if the contact details are inaccurate or the service is unavailable?

If you believe that the registrant, administrative, technical, or billing contact information (if applicable) returned in response to an RDAP search or optional WHOIS opt-out search is inaccurate, or you are not getting search results because both are unavailable RDAP and WHOIS Services, you can access the WHOIS and WHOIS Complaints Form using the WHOIS Complaints link at the top of the page. These complaint forms report these concerns to the Compliance Department for further review and can be used for complaints related to RDAP services. Please note that RDAP services were not required to be implemented by registrars and registry operators until August 26, 2019.

Domain name registration data lookup performs Registration Data Access Protocol (RDAP) queries. RDAP allows users to access current registration data and was created as a possible replacement for the WHOIS protocol. Displayed results come directly from  registry operators  and / or  registrars in real time. ICANN does not generate, collect, or store any data related to RDAP compliant searches. If the requested information is not available in the RDAP, the request will be redirected to whois (whois failure lookup). In the event of a WHOIS failure search, ICANN may generate, collect, store, or store the requested domain name and results during the transition period necessary to display results in response to real-time queries.

Domain Name Registration Data Searches and WHOIS opt-out searches are shown to help users obtain information about domain name registration records and not for other purposes. Users agree to use this data only for lawful purposes in accordance with the Privacy Policy and Terms of Service of the website. SAS reserves the right to restrict or terminate your access to data and / or retrieval of domain name registration data if you fail to comply with these Terms of Use. SAS reserves the right to change these Terms of Use at any time. Any changes we make will be posted on this page. By submitting a request, users agree to be bound by these Terms of Service.
